On war and Zimbabwe

I haven't really written anything on politics so far on this blog. But today when I walked from the metro to home I got really upset when I heard following on the radio. I wonder how the religious army thought...

Zimbabwe is a country which events I have followed closely during the last years. Now it seems like they are doing nasty things to Mr Tsvangirai again. I hope that the reign of Mugabe will end as soon as possible. And that a sensible leader can take charge via a democratic election.

I highly recommend you to watch the Last King of Scotland. A great film on how a dictatorship (doesn't) work. I think it got a few BAFTA:s as well.

Guardian goes Swedish!

The Guardian's music section has posted a podcast about and with music from Sweden.

I haven't listened to it myself yet, but anyway it will show that Sweden is more than ABBA =).

I've been to church this evening. Sadly I didn't sleep very well last night, so for me it was a lot about staying focused. But I think Jesus was there anyway!

I also expect to reveal great news by the end of this week about where I'm gonna live. Please stay tuned!

Slightly sweet in flavour

After a good CU-session I was off to the local Asda to buy some groceries that even I didn't know that I needed. Anyway I found this sign, which tells that I am great mashed with carrot. This country freaks me out!

Daffodils

Today is a great day. Wonderful weather, although it was a bit slippery (ice!) when I ran to the bus.

I don't know how I do it. But I always seem to run to the bus.

Thinking of running, that's actually what I'm gonna do now. The daffodils on the right is from the grassy patch between where I live and the road.

Hannah avoids the Frame?

At the very end of a good meeting I managed to take this photo. Ric looking occupied, Hannah D smiling and Hannah F trying to hide from the Awesome Eye of the Blog.

Anyway, I really look forward to the day when I will post a photo of Mark's shirt on this blog - You're up for a real treat dear blog reader.

A good start compared to yesterday afternoon

Yesterday I had a bad public transport day. Nothing worked and I ended up walking far too much. Two good things was the meeting in Jesmond Parish Church in the morning and that I avoided the temptation to order an Internet-pizza from Domino's in the evening.

For Sunday lunch I had a Giant Yorkshire Pudding with dumplings and minced meat. It was really good value for money. The Strawberry by St James is good.

In two weeks time I will attend an interview for employment during the summer vacation. I really hope that I get the job and I will surely let you know if I do =).

Tonight it is the exec meeting with the Christian Union. I am looking forward to that and I hope that we will have a good time together.

My So-called Life

No, I'm definitely not complaining about my life. Secs ago I saw that the cult tv series My So-called Life will be released on DVD in the UK in mid-may. I might buy it when it gets cheaper.

I have now started with some serious running. My aim is to be in top form when the Great North Run is on in September.

I'm going to church tomorrow and after that it is lunch and then uni-time. I need to do some reading on Business Organisations and Environment. We have a make or break test before summer.

Good leadership is an art

- Vissa behöver en klapp på axeln och andra en spark i arslet, det gäller bara att läsa av vem som ska ha vad, säger Rönnberg.

And in English it will be something like: "Some need a pat on the shoulder and others a kick up their arse. It's all about understanding who needs what."

Roger Rönnberg, one of the coaches for Swedish under-performing ice hockey team Lulea HF, quoted in regional daily paper.

I think some people definitely need a kick up their backside. Sometimes I do. Anyway, people who are afraid of/can't handle conflicts worries me.

Bramley apple pie - Swedish style

I've baked an apple pie today. I've never baked one with Bramley apples before, but it worked very well. I assume that you can kill people with Bramleys if you throw them really really hard.

In three weeks time from now I will be back on Swedish ground. I'm not missing home, but that doesn't mean that I don't look forward going home. It's gonna be good fun to meet family and friends again.

24:7 library

After a successful petition by the student's union the university library will try to extend the already generous opening hours. I would like to see a figure of the total cost before I'm convinced it's at good idea.
