Mein' Deutsch ist sehr schlecht

Well. Maybe not sehr schlecht. Schlecht might be a word enought to describe it.

Probably the last tourist who came to the Tourist Info Centre this day was a German lady. With a few interruptions which I could blame on my bad vocabulary, we actually managed to have a conversation.

It is good fun though to realise that my German is not as bad as I first thought, and that I actually have something to build on.

This Saturday I will go to a village outside Lycksele to attend a big Christian event. On Sunday I work between noon and 6pm. Should be OK.

Rushdie's Knighthood

If you skim through following it will help you to understand what I am ganning aboot.

Salman Rushdie. I have not read anything he has written, and I doubt that many of the upset Islamists have.

But if we assume that the Islamists are right and that Rushdie is blasphemeous it only shows how stupid a religion can be. We have a few questions to ask the people who justifies suicide bombings and murder of people who disagrees with their "right opinion".

The Islam countries who claim that the western world is disrespectul should think about their own legislation concerning religious freedom.

" The Satanic Verses’ treatment of the life of Muhammad was seen as blasphemous by many Muslims. Parts that caused particular offence include a suggestion that Islam was founded by the Prophet after experiencing hallucinations caused by smoking hashish."

In Sweden Jesus' has been pictured AS an homosexual in an exhibition. And that exhibition took place in a church among other places. We also have MP:s who put an equal sign between Christians and neo nazis due to the stance on same-sex marriage.

As a born-again Christian you could probably picture that it makes me sad and upset when people want to do above things to the person I see as my saviour. But that does not want me to kill people.

Two weeks done

I have now been working two weeks at the Tourist Info Centre in my hometown. It has been good fun. On Thursday I left for a two-day course in tourism. The speakers were good and I met two girls that I went to upper secondary with. Always nice to meet people you have not seen in ages.

I am going to church at 1pm today. We will have a service with motorbike theme =).

Åsele

I am indeed back in the small town where I have grown up. Prague and the Czech Republic gave me two great days. I really recommend Prague for those who have not been there. I will upload some pictures on Facebook when we get our broadband connection up and running.

I will be back in Newcastle around August 15, but until then I will work here. The hut in the picture is the council's tourism agency. So basically I am trying to help tourists with their quite predictable questions. But with one of Sweden's biggest summer markets approaching; I guess I will encounter a few random things =S.
